Stanisław Fijałkowski

Stanisław Fijałkowski was born in Zdołbunów (in Wołyń region). In 1945-51 studies at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łodż. He belongs to the International Woodcut Society XYLON. He is a memmber of the European Academy of Art and Sciences in Salzburg and the Royal Belgian Academy of Sciences, Literature and Fine Arts. He deals with painting and print. He uses linocut technique most often and experiments with digital print and silkscreen. He exhibited his works in a few dozen individual shows and took part in hundred exhibitions of Polish art in Poland and abroad. He won many prizes and distinctions, among others: I Prize, the Drawing Triennial in Wrocław (1968), the Honorary Medal, the International Print Biennial in Cracow (1970), II Prize, the International Print Biennial in Frechen (Germany, 1978), Grand Prix, All-Polish Print Exhibition in Warsaw (1981), J.Cybis Award (1990). In 2002 the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódż honoured him with the title of the honoris causa doctor.
